Watch this space for details of the next Green Retrofit Co-op Project

The Green Retrofit Co-op is a work and buying cooperative.

It helps members work on each other's homes in order to make them,

  • energy efficient
  • resource efficient
  • more affordable and livable with age
The Co-op is run by members and supported by Empowering Local Communities, Inc. and its Teaching & Helping Mentor program.

How Does It Work?

The Green Retrofit Co-op is built around the idea of service-learning.

  • Co-op members volunteer for work on projects on homes of other co-op members and low income families.
  • Members earn 'points' for their volunteer work.
  • Members can use earned points towards hosting a project on their own home.
The host family pays for the cost of materials, mentor fees, and administrative support.
